Hi All,
This is a very short non-travel-related post just to share with you this superb Colombian band I was just introduced to! I was in Buenos Aires with my boyfriend last week and we were invited to have a couple - a little more actually, to be honest - of exquisit Mendoza wine bottles at a friend of his' house. It happens that this friend - a Belgian living between Argentina, Europe, Hong Kong, Mexico and Argentina - is a huge music connoisseur who organizes raves and big parties all over the world as well as a well known electronic music producer.
When I told him I was from Colombia, he told me "wait one sec", he connected his laptop to the massive LCD TV hanging on the wall and said : "This is, hands down, the best new band I have listened to last year".
I have to admit I had never heard of Bomba Estereo, but they sound rrrreaaaallly well , their music is a mixture of Afro-Caribbean rhythms with electro and styles like reggae, dub and hip hop that they define as "Electro Vacilon", and that night, they also got me to be a little prouder of being Colombian :).
People, I give you FUEGO!!!
Abrazos,

Marcela
I'm so happy I found your blog. Here's a little something from my team www.toursofcolombia.com I've been here 3 weeks and Colombia is going to be the place for all tourists around the globe to visit for this new and bright decade of 2010. Let me know what I can do to help out. I was born here in Manati Atlantico about 29 years or so ago and at the age of 6 I was taken to NY EEUU. Now I'm back to learn & at the same time share my beautiful birth country with the world!!! Count on me...

I’m so delighted to have found your blog, I’m a Colombian who left to live in the US when I was 15, my apologies to those who’s my shortcoming may affect, English is the language I learned to communicate as an adult, so please forgive me.
ReplyDeleteVisit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colombia for a wealth of information on our beautiful land. I feel the Lord blessed her with so much of His natural beauty, she is a precious gem, and we must always remember Who gave Her so much beauty and gave us the grace to be born Colombian.
With that in mind, those of us that want to promote her for the Gem she is, we must all take full responsibility to keep her beauty intact, and not contribute in any way or allow our shallow ambitions to let others pollute her land and her awesome people! Let’s make Colombia a shining star to the world, of how her people will prosper because we are committed to respect her land, staying organic, synthetic free.
Let’s shout with our hearts, with a kind of groaning and ache that only our Holy Spirit understands, for her children, the displaced, the lost, all those robbed of their childhood, victims of man’s sin, greed, and immorality. Let’s unite our hearts towards them and ask God’s wisdom for all her citizens to make sure all of Her children slumber in peace and as we prosper so will the displaced and the lost never to fall pray, to man’s decay.
I pray for Wisdom onto all who read my post!
Hugs
Tere
Hola Tere and thank you very much for your comment.
ReplyDeleteI definitely share your passion for our country. I also spent most of my adult life away from Colombia in London. That time helped me realise how blessed we are and that is the reason that made me overcome my fear of writing and started this blog. I want the whole world to see the new Colombia through my experiences and get Colombians to learn form other country's experiences so we can carry on growing in a sustainable and earth friendly way.
Keep writing and I hope you follow me through my blog.
